Langtang Gosaikunda Trek takes you through the remote Langtang Valley to the famous mountain lake of Gosaikunda. This holy lake is known as the abode of Hindu god Shiva. Gosaikunda is believed to have been created by Lord Shiva himself to ease his aching throat after taking lethal Kalkut poison. It is said that only the purest of souls can see the image of sleeping Shiva in this lake. Great fare is organized in Gosaikunda during Janai Purnima festival which falls in the full moon of August. This is also the day in which Shamans gather in mass communion.
Enjoy the distant valley trek in Langtang with 360 degree views of Himalayan panorama including Langtang Lirung, Ganja La, Dorje Lakpa and get the opportunity to witness authentic Tamang culture as you pass through tribal villages. Trekking route continues through Langtang National Park where rare red panda, rhesus monkeys and other wildlife are common sight. The trail progresses up and down through colorful rhododendron forest.
We will drive from Kathmandu and reach Syabrubesi which marks the starting point of trek. The trail takes us to popular Kyangjin Monastery. You will also be taken on tour of Government owned local cheese factory where some of the world’s Langtang Gosaikunda finest yak cheese are made.

After you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will need to go through a custom check and visa formalities. As you exit from the Arrival Hall, you will find our representative from Alaya Holidays waiting for you with placard in their hand. Check your name in the placard. After picking you up from the airport he/ she will drop you at the hotel.
This is the day in which you will closely observe the medieval city of Kathmandu by participating in an exciting sightseeing tour. Out of 10 UNESCO sites in Nepal, 7 lie in Kathmandu Valley while 4 of these sites exist in Kathmandu. On this day, you will visit Nepal’s largest Buddhist shrine Bouddhanath, Holy temple of Hindus Pashupatinath, 2500 years old Buddhist shrine Swayambhunath and the ancient Royal Palace at Kathmandu Durbar Square. You will get time for trek preparation and shopping in the afternoon.
Heading north from Kathmandu, we will follow Pasang Lhamu Highway where we will be greeted with scenic views of hills, rice terraces, rivers and tribal villages. We can see Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Tibetan mountains. In about 8hrs, we will reach Syabrubesi via Dhunche. Dhunche has the largest settlement in the area. Stay overnight in Syabrubesi.
Langtang Gosaikunda Trek begins on this day. We will cross Langtang River and walk through landslide area. The trail descends to small Rimche village (2400 m/ 7874 ft) which exists near to the bank of Langtang River. We will walk along the river to Lama Hotel where we will stay overnight.
We will enjoy early morning view of Langtang Lirung. The trail continues through rhododendron forest. Walking through forest, we will reach Ghora Tabela (meaning: Horse Stable). This place was used in earlier days as a rest place by travelers riding horses. From Ghora Tabela, we will climb uphill. The valley widens as we climb higher. Walking past temporary settlement area, we will reach Langtang Village. The headquarters of Langtang National Park is located at Langtang village. Stay overnight at Langtang village.
Leaving the exotic Langtang village, we will climb small ridges and reach a pasture land where we can see yaks grazing on grasses. The valley opens wide and offer panoramic views of surrounding mountains. Our journey continues through moraines till Kyangjin. Located in an exquisite place, Kyangjin allows 360degree views of Himalayan panorama including views of Langtang Lirung, Ganjala peak, Langsisa Ri Peak among other. Stay overnight in Kyangjin.
Kyangjin is a great place to explore. There are many exciting places in the area including Kyangjin Monastery and a government owned cheese factory. Side trip can be arranged to Kyangjin RI (4350m/ 14271ft). The lofty peak of Kyangjin RI is located directly behind the village. Stay overnight at Kyangjin Gompa.
After spending a memorable day at Kyangjin Gompa, we will retrace our route back to Langtang River. The trail takes us to culturally Rich Sherpa village of Langtang. We will descend to Ghora Tabela and continue walking to Lama Hotel where we will stay overnight.
First half of trek takes us down to landslide area. The trail continues to climb up from landslide area and passes through colorful forest where we can witness views of red pandas, monkeys and several local and migratory birds. Exiting from forest, we will reach ThuloSyabru. The large village of ThuloSyabru greets us with views of Ganesh Himal (7110m) and Langtang Himal. Stay overnight in ThuloSyabru.
Leaving ThuloSyabru, we will pass through the meadow of Dursagang (2660m) and reach Foprang Danda (3200m). The path is scenic and allows views of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal and other peaks and mountains in neighboring Tibet. We will take gentle climb to Sing Gompa. We will visit Buddhist Monastery and a local yak cheese factory.
We need to conquer the high pass of Laurebina La to reach Gosaikunda. You might experience High Altitude Sickness while climbing Laurebina La. From Laurebina La, we will climb further to Gosaikunda. The route allows melodramatic views of HimalChuli Peak (7893m), Manaslu Mountain Range (8156mm), Ganesh Mountain Range (7406m) and other peaks and mountains to the west. Gosaikunda Valley is home to more than a dozen lake including Saraswati Lake, Bhairav Lake and Gosaikunda Lake. Gosaikunda Lake is believed to have been created by Lord Shiva himself.
Gosaikunda is a holy lake that exists in a scenic place being surrounded by mountains. Great fare is organized every year on Janai Purnima festival during which Nepalese from far and wide visits this holy pilgrimage destination. We will lower down to Sing Gompa via Laurebina La where we will stay overnight.
After an early morning tea, we will lower down through pine, oak and rhododendron forest. We will arrive at a suspension bridge. Crossing the bridge, we will reach Sing Gompa River. The trail from this destination onwards is leveled. We will reach Dhunche where we will stay overnight.
We will drive back to Kathmandu on this day. We will follow the meandering road all the way to Kathmandu where you will be transferred to hotel for comfortable stay.
