Forests are one of the prominent natural resources found here. Around 37% of the total land here is occupied by different types of forests. The major rivers of the country comprise of Narayani, Gandaki, Koshi, Karnali, Mahakali etc. Similarly, the mind blowing lakes like Phewa, Rara, Begnas Tal, Rupa, etc are equally attractive. Also, it is to be noted that Phoksundo Lake found here is the deepest lake of Nepal and Tilicho Lake which is the major attractions for avid trekkers is the lake at the highest altitude. Because of the richness in water recourses, Nepal has a high potential of hydroelectricity. The theoretical capacity is as high as more than 80,000mw.
The land is yet other natural resources of Nepal. 17% of the Land here are cultivable and 38% of the land here is snow- covered. The land covered in snow is rocky and are not cultivable. The Terai as in the Southern region of the country is used for cultivation and agriculture. Other parts of the country are also important for agriculture but Terai is basically the important one. Being an agricultural country, the quality of soil plays an important role here
Similarly, minerals like iron, copper, limestone, mica etc are also found here in different parts of the country.
